Anyone working on the Cask of Amontillado? I could use some help on some of it this week.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What kind of help? I am currently reading this and Edgar Allen Poe's other literary work(s).

OpenStudy (lacedupcountry):

Well i just read it, and i have to write some essays on it and take some tests i haven't got to the tests yet an i know i'm gonna need help because i'm having a hard time understanding some of the questions but idk i'm having a hard time thinking of things to write.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know some of Poe's writings are a bit daunting.

OpenStudy (lacedupcountry):

In the short story, "The Cask of Amontillado," the reader is never told what the exact insult was that caused Montresor to seek revenge against Fortunato. Write to tell what happened before the story begins in "The Cask of Amontillado." Yeah i agree same with shakespeare i feel like its just the language that's used otherwise i wouldn't feel so blocked on how to connect my writing with his ,This is what i have to write about i have my intro started but i'm not sure how to direct it so that it makes sense.

You've got the beginning part right. What I always do when I write a paper is always brainstorm first. You should brainstorm some ideas. For example, what do you want your readers to know about your writing.

OpenStudy (lacedupcountry):

I want my readers to feel like they can picture what i'm laying out on the paper so that i catch their attention and reel them in but i'm not sure how i'm going to make it as visual as Poe, I'm stumped on ideas to use for a beginning i know it should be some kind of social event but im not sure how to make it so that when Fortunato insults Montresor it makes sense. I feel like im overthinking this, but I'm unsure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Edgar Allen Poe has this uncanny/eerie fascination with death. Poe in his real life has suffered a lot, that is why his stories seem so emotional. For the novel "Cask of Amontillado" you can start your introduction paragraph by stating what the novel is about then later on the main paragraph you can introduce the characters: Fortunato and Montresor.

your on the right point. Make sure to use quotes!

Okay thanks!
