A cat with a mass of 4.50 kilograms sits on a ledge 0.800 meters above the ground. If it jumps to the ground, how much kinetic energy will it have just as it reaches the ground?
Ok, in this question, you have to think about conservation of energy. Initially, the cat only has potential energy (U=mgh). Just as the cat reaches the ground, it has kinetic energy (KE=0.5mv^2). Set the two equal to each other and you get mgh=KE. Sub in values and you get: 4.5kg*0.8m*9.81=KE. The answer should be 35.3J.
Oh wow, that's right. Man I wish I could have figured this out :/ I'm almost done with High School haha, thank you sir.
LOL. It's "miss", but no problem all the same. ;D
Oh D: I saw "james" but I didn't know you were a miss ;P Well how old are you?
HAHAHA! That is a-okay, I just reeeeally like Star Trek. Anyways, glad my answer helped. Ta!
Oh, I see. Well I really like learning. My name means the Latin God of Darkness. I have it for everything really. Thanks again for the answer. Later ~
