Why is OCl2 polar? And how do you find the polarity of long organics like propane and acetone

i think \(OCl_2\) has a bent shape, you can check this using vsepr. Alkanes are non-polar, just like \(CH_4\) is non-polar. Acetone is polar C-O bond.

bocoz of the electronegative difference between O and Cl :) O is more electronegative than the Cl :) so the Oxygen attracts the bonding electrons towards itself and gets partial -ve charge and that of Cl get partial +ve charge :) as result charge seperation which leads to polarity|dw:1387339146732:dw|
