A glider lands 18 miles west and 9 miles south from where it took off. Use distance (for magnitude) and direction to describe this vector a second way. a. 20 miles at 27 degrees south of west c. 20 miles at 27 degrees north of west b. 27 miles at 20 degrees south of west d. 27 miles at 20 degrees north of west

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

to find magnitude simply do : \(\sqrt{x^2+y^2} = \sqrt{18^2+9^2} = ?\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay?? I did \[\sqrt{18^2+9^2} = \sqrt{405} = 20.12\] Thats what I got but thats only like part of my answer...

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Yes, so answer is either A or B. we need to find the direction still

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

look at the diagram once

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So A.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

the red line is SOUTH OF WEST right ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

so... whats the answer ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Yes !!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

good job :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):
