Batteries are made of two metals with different electron affinities. What does the phrase “electron affinity” mean and how does this affinity affect the voltage of the battery?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

electron affinity of a metal is the tendency of that metal to accept electrons.the metal having higher electron will accept (or attract) more electrons towards it than the other metal and hence a potential difference will be generated between the two metals.this will give rise to the voltage of the battery. the greater the difference in the electron affinity of the two metals, greater will be the potential difference and greater will be the voltage of the battery and vice-versa.
