help?

OpenStudy (theeric):

I'm not very good at chemistry, sorry. I know only some basic things!

OpenStudy (theeric):

You might want to clarify the reaction... It was iron and oxygen \(\rm{\rightarrow Fe_2O_3}\) from your last question, I think. Good luck!

Parth (parthkohli):

I really dunno.

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

What is "the reaction that occurred between iron and oxygen"?

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

If is is Fe(III)+O2 -> Fe3O2 as theEric suggests, then it is a synthesis reaction.

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Two or more elements or compounds combining to make 1 compound is a synthesis reaction.

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

What are the names of types of reactions you have learned?

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Combination, then.

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

No, that is just another name for synthsis.

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

That looks like decomposition. AB -> A + B

OpenStudy (abb0t):

What?

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

I'm not sure what you mean by that. MY understanding of the reaction is HC2H3O2 + NaHCO3--> NaC2H3O2 + H2O + CO2

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

I would guess what it means is that first HC2H3O2 + NaHCO3--> NaC2H3O2 + H2CO3 (double replacement) Then H2CO3 -> H2O + CO2 (decomposition) but I'm not sure.

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

No worries. :)
