MIT 6.00 Intro Computer Science (OCW) 14 Online

Are there any people or groups interested in going through this course together? I'm referring to MIT 6.00 Introduction to Computer Science and Programming.

Pick me up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi phonism, did you want to join a new study group for this course? I am very new to Openstudy and MIT Opencourseware, so I am not exactly sure where to go with this. Is there anyone else out there who would like to join our group?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i am... pick me too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes guys. Please count me in. I have NO background in computer programming. I'm looking to self study and see where it will land me. How does this "group study" plan work?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

atiqwhiz, gestar and emichan, you are welcome to join phonism and I. I have virtually no programming experience either and I am also new to Open Study and MIT OCW, so I am not really sure how this group study plan works. I can say that I ordered 2 books last night from Amazon.com - "Introduction to Computation and Programming Using Python" (the latest version released on August 9, 2013) by John V. Guttag and "Think Python" by Allen B. Downey. The first book is written by the teacher of this course, John Guttag and the other one is helpful to have from what I have read. While waiting for those books to come in, I"m planning to brush up on my Algebra at Khan Academy (www.khanacademy.org), which is a great site started by Salman Khan and bankrolled by Bill Gates and Google. If you haven't seen it before, definitely take a look. As far as the next steps go, I am open to ideas. Are there any moderators out there who can give us some tips on how to make this work well?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

By the way, where are you guys from? I'm from the Boston area in the U.S.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you have not seen this yet, here is a video of John Guttag introducing the course: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww2BdhILIio

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'd like to join too if that's okay? I'm very new to open courses also as well as programming.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am with you ktsull.. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am with programming skills(c/c++/java) but still learner learner..... I am from India...hope will get something to learn with the group.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would love to join. I am new here also, but I have a crazy schedule. Are there any schedule limitations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why not try 6.00SC instead?

OpenStudy (tambudzai):

I would also like to join a study group. I'm new to programming but have been on khanacademy.com watching videos about Python. So far, I've just watched the first lecture of the MIT course.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would love to be a part of the study group if possible! I have no programming background but would try to help out as much as I could. It would be great if we could all go through this together!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm in too, im doing 6.00sc the newer version.
