http://www.math.com/school/subject1/lessons/S1U1L9DP.html check it out its very helpful! and if you have any questions just ask!

OpenStudy (mathmale):

It just happens that 49 is a perfect square; it is the square of 7.

HonorsStudent: that web site you've shared is a great resource! When I was in junior high and high school, my fellow students and I were sometimes asked to find the square roots of non-perfect squares by hand. It was a bit like long division, but more complicated.

See "Finding square roots using an algorithm" in http://www.homeschoolmath.net/teaching/square-root-algorithm.php

Mathmale: Thanks I use it every now and then to refresh my mind about them. Im a Junior in High school right now and I still forget how to do square roots without a calculator haha!

OpenStudy (mathmale):

That's the method we used back then.
