how does a cell maintain homeostasis without using energy.
Wouldn't it be osmosis?
that isnt one of the choices T_T, would diffusion work?
Dude give the choices then lol.
the choices are long >.< but ok
a) channel proteins provide a passage for molecules to cross the membrane via facilitated diffusion b) membrane carrier proteins help substances enter the cell against a concentration gradient c) pieces of the cell membrance for vesicles circulate around extracellular materials during endocytosis d) protons are pumped out of the cell to create a voltage across the cell membrane which of the above describes a process that helps maintain homeostasis without requiring energy to be used
I think it's b.. not sure though
Ok you wanna look at the keywords. Facilitated diffusion is the movement of large molecules through the membrane but because they are big, they need special 'doors'(protein). But the molecules still move down the concentration gradient. B obviously needs energy because it's against the concentration gradient Endocytosis needs energy because the cell has to engulf the molecule Voltage means potential. Potential means energy difference. What do you think this means?
