OpenStudy (sonyalee77):

A line contains the points (3, 2) and (–1, –6). What is the slope of a line that is parallel to this line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If two lines are parallel, they have the same slope. To find the slope of this line, use the rise-over-run equation: \[m=\frac{ (-6)-2 }{ (-1)-3 }=\frac{ -8 }{ -4 }=2\] Therefore, the slope of any line that is parallel to this line has a slope of 2.
