Which below is the correct spelling? Martyn or Martin I recently went to a antiques shop and found a really old pamphlet, it is most likely a registry to some old shop, anyway I came across a name, while skimming it, which I found was really interesting. Martin was spelled as, Martyn. So now I am confused as to which is the correct spelling and what are the differences between the origin of these two names. Can anyone please shed some light on this, thanks.

@maddogjjv So you take the spelling of Martyn as a genuine spelling mistake?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not always but what is the pamphlet called?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Many people spell their name as "Martin." However, some use the spelling "Matryn." The correct spelling is whatever is used by the particular person being considered.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok now im confused what does the pamphlet say?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@maddogjjv The pamphlet is an store's old registry (it is basically a piece of paper that stores used to keep who bought what at their store). @study-mode So we can assume that the origin of the names are the same and to not come from other places, correct?

it is probably martyn then
