-4<4(6y-12)-2y? MEDAL WILL BE REWARDED

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 < y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you need to see how to solve for y?

@RachelJune

Yes @Catseyeglint911

Your goal is to get y by itself on one side. Your first step is to distribute 4 to the pat that looks like this --> (6y-12). To distribute, you times 4 to each part of the equation. That would give you the equation -4<24y-48-2y. You then need to combine the two like terms, in this case, 24y and -2y. That would give you the equation --> -4<22y-48. Its then just like a normal equation. The final result would be 2.36(repeating)<y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got this: -4 < 4(6y - 12) -2y distribute 4 -4 < 24y -48 -2y combine like terms -4 < 22y -48 add 48 to both sides 44 < 22y divide both sides by 22 2 < y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats wrong because -4 plus -48 would be -52, not 44

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to add positive 48 to the -48 to cancel it out, and because you are adding positive negative 48 to one side, you add positive 48 to the -4 which gives you 44.

my bad

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's all good.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(I had to retype this because after I read my response I realized it didn't make sense at one part.) You have to add positive 48 to the -48 to cancel it out, and because you are adding positive 48 to one side, you add positive 48 to the -4 which gives you 44.
