So the first function is written and the second function is the picture

You get a maximum(or minimum) when the slope of the equation is 0 One method is deriving your equation and matching it to 0 So let's do that here f(x) = -4x2 + 6x + 3 (Original function) We derive f'(x)= 6-8x Then we look when the slope(derivative) becomes 0 0 = 6-8x Solve for x x=6/8=3/4 Which means our maximum is in x = 3/4 So now we substitute x (where the maximum is) in our original equation and we will get our value for it's maximum f(t)=-4(3/4)²+6(3/4)+3= ((21)/4)= 5. 25 this is the value of the maximum in first equation So which one is bigger?

The second one is right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first function highest value is the one i gave you The second function highest value is 3 If you didn't understand i'll be glad to help just say so

no that is ok thank you though
