Select all that apply. Nuclear energy is released during: A.)chemical reactions B.)fission C.)radioactive decay D.)breakup of molecular bonds E.)splitting of atoms
It is either B or E, I think it is B. When fission occurs an atom is split apart creating a nuclear blast of energy that decimates everything within a few miles. *warning*This is based off memory*
ok or it could be both since it does say select all that applys
So you can put a check my more than one?
yepp
So it is B and E. A, C and D are all completely different processes.
Energy is still released from a nucleus in radioactive decay. C should be a correct answer too. By the way, a single atom fissioning isn't quite so dramatic. You can get a few hundred MeV from a Uranium atom (about 10\(^{-11}\) Joules)
I do not have the patience to explain all of it.
B, C, and E
