A term is any combination of numbers and variables multiplied together. eg. 4xy is a term.
How many terms does your expression have?

Is that it?

Thank you so much :) I have one more if you have a minute?
OpenStudy (agent0smith):
Sure

Write the polynomial in standard form.
6x + x2 – x4 + 3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Now I learned this in like second grade but I'm not too sure how to do this SPECIFIC one.

A.
–x4 + x2 + 6x + 3
B.
x4 + x2 + 6x + 3
C.
6x + x2 + x4 + 3
D.
6x – x2 – x4 + 3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I have a weird feeling it's D haha
OpenStudy (anonymous):
*C
OpenStudy (agent0smith):
No one learned that in second grade :P
You have to write the terms in order, of highest to lowest power.
Eg \[\Large -x +1+ 2x^2 - 5x^6 +10x^3\]Look at the powers on the x's. Put the terms in order, highest to lowest power:\[\Large - 5x^6 +10x^3+ 2x^2 -x +1\]

Ahhh okay so give me a minute.

So wait is it B?
OpenStudy (agent0smith):
Notice the signs/coefficients haven't changed in my example...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So then I really don't know
OpenStudy (agent0smith):
Just change the order of the terms, don't change anything else

Move the term with the highest exponent out front
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So is it A?

@agent0smith
OpenStudy (agent0smith):
Yes
