I need help writing this combustion reaction for sucrose- C12 H22 O11 Sucrose (numbers are subscripts) please help me and explain ! Thank you :)

1) Unbalanced equation, C12 H22 O11 +O2 -> CO2 + H2O. 2) almost balanced: C12 H22 O11 + O2 --> 12CO2 + 11H2O you have 35 oxygen on the right, 13 on the left. Lets try multiplying six to O2: 3) balanced: C12 H22 O11 + 6O2 -> 12CO2 + 11H2O + heat

Do you know how to balance equations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. To balance an equation, you just have to make the numbers of atoms on the left equal to the number of atoms to the right of the equation. For example, if there is 22 hydrogens on the left, we can multiply the H2O by a coefficient of 11 to obtain 22 hydrogens on the right. You can also use any coefficients that are fractions. Easy?
