(a-b)(a+b)=

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a^2 + b^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a * a = a^2 and b * b = b^2 since this is the furthest we can add the two together (since we do not know the real values for either a or b) the answer we can get is a^2 * b^2 does this help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it would be adding a^2 and b^2, not multiplying.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@T.Josh.01 are you sure?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Using FOIL method (firstxfirst, firstxouter, innerxFirst, innerxLast) you get a^2 + ab -ab + b^2 ab and -ab cancel out leaving a^2 + b^2 or am i mistaken??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shoplovepc i know what it is! the b^2 would be negative, therefore subtracted from a^2. so the final answer would be a^2 - b^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@T.Josh.01 that makes sense :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a^2 and because + and - cancel each other then b^2 so a^2 + b^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry frdz correct answer of (a-b)(a+b) is a^2-b^2 this is difference formula
