OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

How do you know if a set of domain and range is linear, quadratic, or neither?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a quadratic range would be limited on one end while the other end go off to infinity. The domain for linear and quadratic functions would be the same, the set of all real numbers, unless its not a line... meaning there are discontinuities in it. This is my best guess.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the domain does not cover all real numbers.. you would know that either the function is restricted to a certain domain.. such as x^2 from -10 to 10.

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

for example this one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I assume the left column is time.. and the right column is distance?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you look at the points.. you can see as x increases.. so does y.. up to a certain point.. then y decreases... but only for a bit .. then it increases again. If you think about a line.. as x increases.. y increases. a parabola starts one way .. then turns the other as x increases. This one has 2 turning points.. so you would figure this is at least a cubic function. I hope this helps... and haha I hope I am not totally dumb and this is all wrong.
