OpenStudy (lena772):

In higher latitudes where lakes freeze over in winter, how do cool autumn temperatures help fish make it through the winter? The cooling water slows fish metabolisms down and allows them to go into hibernation in winter. Water from the bottom of the lake raises and provides oxygen to the cooler waters on the surface. Cool water at the surface traps nutrients deep in the lake to provide food during the winter. The water in contact with the air sinks and mixes with the less oxygenated water in the deeper levels. @wolfe8 @mahone331

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

I'm thinking A but it sounds kinda too simple

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im pretty sure its B.

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Well I thought B and D are similar, and cold doesn't rise, hot does.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, but i dont think that the fish hibernate in winter

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Lol do fish even hibernate?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats wat i thought, and i dont think they do

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Then I will go for D since cold sinks and hot rises

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

"The more oxygenated surface water mixes with the less oxygenated levels below it. " I found this is my Biology text book, so the answer is D
