simplify. Write without negative exponents. y^-5/y^-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so y ^-1 = 1/y so use that logic to write out y^-5 * 1/y^-2

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

1/y^5/y^2 Since the bases are the same sub subtract 5 - 2 = 3 1/y^3

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

When they're negative, you have to put a 1/a^b ... you can't have a negative exponent. :p Ex: b^-y ---> 1/b^y
