What is an oblique asymptote? How can I find it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oblique asymptote is an asymptote that is neither horizontal nor vertical, but slanted instead. This occurs when the degree of the numerator is EXACTLY one degree greater than the denominator. To find it, you have to use long division and ignore the remainder. Use the quotient only.
