ILL GIVE MEDALS: Four friends went scuba diving. According to the following statements, who spotted sea life at the fastest rate? Lance saw 3 reef sharks in 5 minutes. Jasmine saw 5 sea cucumbers in 9 minutes. Robert saw 8 jellyfish in fifteen minutes. Shilpa saw 4 pencil urchins in ten minutes.

OpenStudy (helpblahblahblah):

PLEASE!!

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Convert each to the unit rate. 5, 9, 15, 10? That's no good. What might be a consistent basis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are ratios so first put the creatures spotted as a fraction over how long it took for that person to see them

OpenStudy (helpblahblahblah):

ohhh thanks @YoungMathWiz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 4 pencil urchins in 10 minutes is 4/10 8 jellyfish in 15 minutes is 8/15 you will want to choose the fraction closest to 1

OpenStudy (helpblahblahblah):

ohhh thanks sooo much

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Closest to one (1)? I suppose, but this is only a coincidence of the data. Don't get used to looking for that.

OpenStudy (helpblahblahblah):

okay thanks for the tip
