Simplify w8 x4 w10 x5. okay i know you multiply 8x10 which=80 and 5x4 which=20, but the answer choices say 2w80x20 2w18x9 w80x20 w18x9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 2w80x20 or w80x20??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think either of those are the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I really don't get the question though, is everything being multiplied?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah. the exponents that have the same variables are multiplied but thats all i know lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i havent done this in a longggg time so im confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait, which are exponents?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha. the small numbers that go beside the variables

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wanna draw it out for me on paint or something? The question, not what exponents are, LOL.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOOl damn, im the one asking the question now you are too xD haha okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

holds on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahh it wont let me draw it. my computer being gay xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use paint, the tools aren't working on openstudy for anyone.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah, exponent rules. When you have something like: 4^2 times 4^3 It is the same as 4^(2+3) Let me find you an example.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So attempt it again and tell me what your answer is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay thanks. i see they have different rules for each one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but none of them look like my example

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first rule. ^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you re-arrange your question, you have: (W^8) x (W^10) x (X^4) x (X^5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh! lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks ;D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

w^80xw^20? lool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha, what? No I think you're confusing something. What's the answer you're coming up with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's incorrect! See that would be right if it was (W^8)^10 and (X^5)^4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aww dammit...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have the same base with different exponents being multiplied together. Check those exponent laws again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's okay, I make the same mistake 99% of the time. :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answers are small in the picture! lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im gonana take a shower, its okay girl. ill ust look at the video and try my best

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Good luck. ^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait i just saw the video.. aoh i just add the exponents lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be w^18x^9 :D thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mhm! You're welcome.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yayyy thanmkss!
