(2 points) Dollars per gallon, because the dependent quantity is the gallons Dollars per gallon, because the dependent quantity is the dollars Gallons per dollar, because the dependent quantity is the gallons Gallons per dollar, because the dependent quantity is the dollars 5. Which of the following is the most appropriate unit to describe the rate at which a person reads? LB: For: Which of the following best represents the average rate at which infants grow in height during the first four years after birth? (2 points) 3 inches per month 3 inches per year 3 feet per month 3 feet per year This is more a question in common sense than a math problem. I agree with your answer (b).

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Note that your Question #3 is not actually numbered #3. I'm assuming that you're referring to the first of your three questions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I am haha

OpenStudy (mathmale):

#4: I disagree. Think again, choose another answer, and justify it, please.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

#5: I agree with your choice.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay for #4 is it C because ummmm its depens on how many gallons you get for your dollar?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Disagree again with regard to #4. Try again, and again, explain your reasoning. I assume you drive and that you buy gasoline; how is it priced?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A because dollars per gallon is how they charge you and the cost is priced on how ever many gallons you get?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

It is dollars per gallon since the cost is reliant on the number of gallons (more gallons ---> higher cost), but the dependent quantity is not the gallons. The gallons are independent and can be any positive real number. The cost is dependent on the number of gallons based on the reasoning mentioned earlier.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it is A!?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

"because the dependent quantity is the gallons" is false though, so it can't be A

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The number of gallons is an independent quantity.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so the only choice I have left is B wow I feel stupid

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

it's ok, you're not stupid, just keep practicing and you'll get the hang of it better

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks @jim_thompson5910 :) you too @mathmale

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome
