so i have a question to all the English folks out there...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

“Wolf, meeting with a Lamb astray from the fold, resolved not to lay violent hands on him, but to find some plea to justify to the Lamb the Wolf's right to eat him. He thus addressed him: "Sirrah, last year you grossly insulted me." "Indeed," bleated the Lamb in a mournful tone of voice, "I was not then born." Then said the Wolf, "You feed in my pasture." "No, good sir," replied the Lamb, "I have not yet tasted grass." Again said the Wolf, "You drink of my well." "No," exclaimed the Lamb, "I never yet drank water, for as yet my mother's milk is both food and drink to me." Upon which the Wolf seized him and ate him up, saying, "Well! I won't remain supperless, even though you refute every one of my imputations." The tyrant will always find a pretext for his tyranny.” While reading the fable, a student is confused by the word refute. Using context clues in the passage, you realize that you can help the student determine the meaning of the word. Which of the following definitions is the correct one? Disagree with Give examples for Argue against Agree with

i was thinking that it is C what do you think @texaschic101

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@rose21

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

I was kinda stuck between A and C...but I am leaning more towards C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you. I imagine you guys like it when the person asking the question it least tries to answer the question

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

so true.....it means they are trying. Most people do not try, they just want the answer. You are the exception.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well not only that it is also the c.o.c lol but yes when they try to answer the question even if it is just a guess it help full @texaschic101

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

thats true. I have been suspended before because of the c.o.c. I gave answers without explaining. I have to watch myself and try not to do that again. especially in math. Oh well...live and learn.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right so if you dont mind im going to through another question out there

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

lets see what you got ...lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Literature teaches, comforts, and inspires its readers. People choose fictional works based on their personal interests. Accordingly, consider the following scenario and make a reading suggestion. Pedro loves historical fiction and is particularly fascinated by stories inspired by slave narratives. Which of the following works would you suggest to this reader? The Way It Was: a collection of essays written by the most well-known abolitionists Any Price: a novel about a mother who worked for 20 years to buy her children's freedom Blood Red Sun: a novel about the mystery of a crime spree in modern South Carolina Refiner's Fire: a collection of poems about growing up during and after slavery

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and it is d

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

Not sure about that...fiction is not true...D sounds like it is true stories, or poems. The only one that sounds like it is not true is C. But even that doesn't sound like something he would be interested in reading. Not too sure about this one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay is their anyone you would suggest that may

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

would that be non-fiction ?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

or fiction ?

OpenStudy (rose21):
