How are the coordinates of a new point found if the point is reflected through the x-axis? How are the coordinates of a new point found if the point is reflected through the y-axis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

reflection in x - axis: multiply y coordinates by -1 reflection in y - axis: divide x coordinates by -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

reflect through origin-> take the opposite of both x and y reflect thru y=x -> switch x and y around following that first rule, the third answer would be the origin. B' you just make x the opposite (1, -4). B'' you make y the opposite: (1, 4) so b and b'' are just reflected across the origin!
