What happens if the Senate and House of Representatives pass two different bills on the same topic? Congress will meet with the president to agree on one or the other bill. The conference committee will meet and resolve the bills' differences. The Senate version of the bill will take precedence and go to the president. Advisors to the president will meet with the sponsors of the proposed bills.
