OpenStudy (anonymous):

anyone know how to do the exterior angle theorem? i really need help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

360/N?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah someting like that

OpenStudy (mertsj):

The exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the 2 remote interior angles.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like finding the measure of it with equations

OpenStudy (mertsj):

The sum of the exterior angles of any convex polygon is 360 degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you trying to find a side of an angle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but using an equation like the one im doing now says P is 30 degrees and RH is 8+6x and then Q is 4x+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but its triangle form of course

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think you set it up to 360.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if there exterior angles

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Is P the exterior angle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no RH is

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So P and Q are the interior angles?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i think so

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Then 4x+2+30=8+6x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah cause P is 30 degrees RH which is the exterior angle is 8+6x and Q is 4x+2

OpenStudy (mertsj):

The exterior angle which is 8+6x is equal to the sum of the two remote interior angles which are 30 and 4x+2

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So solve that equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait so you just subtract from 30 on both sides?

OpenStudy (amoodarya):

ANY POLYGON HAS n angles so has n*180 (sum of angles ) (n-2)*180 sum of angles are inside of polygon so n-(n-2)=2 *180 sum of exterior angles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i set it up as 4x+2+30=8+6x

OpenStudy (mertsj):

1. Add the like terms 2. Subtract 4x from both sides 3. Subtract 8 from both sides 4. Divide both sides by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks :)

OpenStudy (mertsj):

yw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you combine 4x and 6x together..sorry for all the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im still just a little confused

OpenStudy (mertsj):

yes. 6x-4x=2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dont you mean 6x+4x since the problem is additon

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Did you notice that step 2 said to subtract 4x from both sides?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh wait i accidentally skipped it
