Medal will be rewarded to best explanation. I dont need workings just the steps please :) Show that the points A(1, 1), B(3, 11) and C(−2,−14) all lie on the same straight line and find the equation of this straight line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use the distance formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

get the distance line AB, BC, AC then AB+BC > AC then it is collinear

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thanks i kniw i just said explanation but ive never used that formula is it okay if you could work it out heres your medal by the way :)

I don't know what he means either, but you can also do it like this: Point B has an X that is 2 steps more to the right then A, and the Y is 10 points higher, While C is 3 steps to the left of A and 15 down from A. So, what does this tell you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AB=sqrt[(1-3)^2+(1-11)^2]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then do the same thing for line BC and AC

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay ill try it tomorrow thanks :)
