given agno3, znso4, bacl2 and nacl randomly in 4 unknown test tubes, you are to identify the substance contained in each test tube. how can I do this?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

by using patterns of solubility. pair up each solution with every other solution in a big table, and see which combinations make insoluble precipitates. then compare with the solubilities of the known compounds and identify

I agree with JFraser; you could just check for solubility. Trying using a universal solvent such as water, to see whether it's miscible or immiscible.

OpenStudy (jfraser):

all of those solutions are soluble in water, it's the mixing of 2 solutions that might create a precipitate. I do this lab all the time when i teach about solubility, it's actually pretty easy
