***Will give medals***!!! Please help me understand charging by friction, charging by conduction, and charging by induction. Also, for charging by friction, how do you know whether the item starts out with a positive or negative charge if you don't have it on the chart? For example, glass and silk?
"...if you don't have it on the chart..." Which chart are you talking about ??
The chart with the order of conductors to semiconductors to insulators.
"...Also, for charging by friction, how do you know whether the item starts out with a positive or negative charge..." Is this what you're looking for - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triboelectric_effect#Triboelectric_series
Nope :( Looking for help w/ electrostatics!
I'll advice you to refer to your book or Google for these terms - charging by friction charging by conduction charging by induction You can then ask the concepts you find confusing. I'll explain them to you. :)
Okay, I already have done that... What's most confusing to me is the charging by induction. I don't understand how in an electroscope, electrons can be transferred to the ground through the hand.. How are the negative electrons transferred from a positive pith ball? It's quite confusing
"... I don't understand how in an electroscope, electrons can be transferred to the ground through the hand..." Human body is a conductor. "...How are the negative electrons transferred from a positive pith ball?..." Please elaborate this sentence.
|dw:1392053305671:dw| I don't get how the negative electrons are transferred to the ground through the hand...
