Medal and fan? Haha need some help.. Please Explain When heat is supplied to a solid, the molecules vibrate but do not leave their positions. Why is this behavior observed? Molecules do not have enough kinetic energy to overcome the intermolecular bonds. Molecules have enough kinetic energy to overcome the intermolecular bonds. Molecules do not have enough kinetic energy to overcome the pressure between the molecules. Molecules do not have enough potential energy to overcome the pressure between the molecules.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Not enough heat has been applied to break the bonds that hold together that allow them to exist in the solid state.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

and yes, as you know: \(\sf K.E = \frac{1}{2}mv^2\)

I'm pretty new to chemistry so this helps alot. Thanks
