i think you have to get it to its simplest form
OpenStudy (anonymous):
not precentafes
OpenStudy (jojo4eva):
u should get something like 0.555555555556 when u put it in the calculator

OpenStudy (jojo4eva):
does it want a decimal
OpenStudy (anonymous):
jojo thats not helping xD
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yea you have to get it to its simplest form
OpenStudy (jojo4eva):
what is it its asking for

okau ty :0
OpenStudy (jojo4eva):
to be simplified so simplest form or to put into a decimal which is it
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no not like that
OpenStudy (jojo4eva):
ok wow that was confusing lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
jojo what grade are u in o.o

no decimals you have to put it to its simplest from keeping it as a fraction
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes ik
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i was trying to explain it to @jojo4eva
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Solve one-sixth plus four-ninths. Then use estimation to check for reasonableness. Show your work. <--- thats the question
OpenStudy (jojo4eva):
oh ok so 5/9 and im a juniro i was trying to figure out what it was when you said estimate

OpenStudy (jojo4eva):
it said estimate and that means several different things especially in math
OpenStudy (anonymous):
the easiest way is to keep it as a fraction
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so the estimation is 5/9....?
OpenStudy (jojo4eva):
well 1/6+4/9 equals 11/18
OpenStudy (anonymous):
what.....

OpenStudy (jojo4eva):
ya 1/6+4/9 is 11/18
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so uh. would it already be simplified or would it be 1/9...?
OpenStudy (jojo4eva):
the common denominator is 18 so you will have 3/18+8/18=11/18
OpenStudy (jojo4eva):
does it give you answer choices
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thats not how I learned how to do it.....
fnd the LCD and then subtract the numerator on the left side with the denominator or the right side and then vise versa. then once you got the 2 numbers you add them together....

and no it doesn't
OpenStudy (jojo4eva):
well in this case the LCD is 18
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yeah I kinda already knew that...
OpenStudy (jojo4eva):
so basically u multiply 1/6 top and bottom by 3 and get 3/18 and you multiply 4/9 top and bottom by 2 and u get 8/18
OpenStudy (jojo4eva):
3/18+8/18 =?

That doesn't really make sense to me but okay. 3/18+8/18= 11/18
OpenStudy (anonymous):
In the lesson it said to subtract not multiply
OpenStudy (jojo4eva):
im multiplying to make the denominators common but whatever you multiply the top by what u multiplied the bottom. What did u multiply the bottom by to get the LCD for 1/6
