Chlorine is used as a bleaching agent in the manufacture of fabrics. 265L of a chlorine bleach (Cl2(aq)) is used to bleach some fabric. The bleach solution ha a density of 1kg/L & contains 85% by mass chlorine. calculate the mass of chlorine in the bleach solution before the bleating process.

OpenStudy (rane):

@Rohitkhanna

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mass of the solution is 265 kg as density is 1 kg/l. chlorine constitutes 85% by mass so------> 85=(m/265) x 100 where m is the mass of chlorine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u got it????? @RANE

OpenStudy (rane):

i used the same method and i get 222.25g but the answer sheet says its wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the answer given??

OpenStudy (rane):

thats wht my teacher said, becoz i used this method and she said its wrong the answer is not 225.25g

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think this is the only way to solve it as i can understand from this question

OpenStudy (rane):

exactly but she had confused me now i don't see an other method of finding the mass other then this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry...i dont see any other alternative....

OpenStudy (rane):

np, thanks anyway

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when u get the ryt answer, tell it to me...

OpenStudy (rane):

sure
