HELP I GOT THE WRONG ANSWER Medal+Fan If f(x) = 3x + 5 and g(x) = 2x - 9, find f(x) - g(x). A. 5x + 4 B. x - 4 C. x + 14 D. 5x - 4 I choose answer B but i got it wrong

OpenStudy (phi):

f(x) is short for 3x+5 (we know this because they tell us f(x)= 3x+5 ) g(x) is short of 2x-9 (we know this because they tell us) what is f(x)-g(x) ? use the "long form": 3x + 5 - (2x-9) now simplify that. can you do that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x + 4 @phi

OpenStudy (phi):

how did you get that ? you start with 3x+5 - 1*(2x-9) you should distribute the -1 (that means multiply each term inside the parens by -1 can you do that ?
