Please can someone help me, will give a medal. Thanks. Which of the following pairs does not share the same empirical formula? A) CH2O and C3H6O3 B) PbCl2 and PbCl4 C) NO2 and N2O4 D) C3H12 and CH4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well what is an empirical formula?wikipedia says the empirical formula of a chemical compound is the simplest positive integer ratio of atoms present in a compound

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so lets look at a ch2o and c3h6o3. to determine if they are a pair u see 1 c to the other one's 3. so u multiply the ch2o by 3. this will equal c3h6o3, which is the matched answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets try C3H12 and CH4 this is 1C vs 3C. so multiply CH4 by 3= C3H12, the matched answer. try the other 2
