Which pronoun correctly completes the elliptical clause? Is everyone who works at this store as helpful as __________? A. they B. them
them not sure how to explain, letter a just sounds wrong. unless you said, as helpful as they ARE
Makes sense, thanks
your welcome
What about this one? Which pronoun correctly completes the elliptical clause? Fortunately, Joseph runs faster than __________. A. she B. her I would say B
@moudown828
yea youre right its def her
Look at this example: Delisa studies with us more than he. Delisa studies with us more than him. The first one is correct, says so in my book.
that one sounds a little sketchy, but i guess it would make sense if you meant the delisa studies with us more than he studies with us
I change my answer to A for the Joseph one, dont you think?
@moudown828
no, i think its joseph runs faster than her, but i dont wanna interfere with your test or whatever so do whatever you think is right ynow? all i can do is help you
Ok, thanks. But dont you think that the example helped..? Even though the second example seems more logical and is understood better, its wrong.
@moudown828
yes the example was pretty helpful
The answer to the first one is THEY. With elliptical pronouns, you cannot go by what seems to look and sound right. Example: She liked the movie more than he. (The words more than he liked the movie complete this elliptical comparison.)
