let x be the thing in table example 4*0-2y = 8 implies y = -4 so one solution is (0,-4)

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

do the same thing for 2, and -1.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

So you take the value from the \(x\) column, plug it into the equation, and solve for the value of \(y\) that makes it true. For example: \[x=0\]\[4(0)-2y=8\]\[0-2y=8\]\[y=\frac{8}{-2} = -4\]

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

1 is not in your table

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

well, it is. you were supposed to use x = 2 and x = -1, not x =-2 and x = 1..

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

because you aren't typing the correct values! you need to use x = 2 and x = -1, not x = -2 and x = 1 as you have done with your answer

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

let's just stick to the original problem. if x = 0, y = ? if x = 2, y = ? if x = -1, y = ?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Okay, those are the correct y values. I do not know what format your system expects the answer to be, but the table has blanks for the y values. You might try entering -4, 0, -6 which would fill those blanks in order. Or perhaps (0,-4), (2,0),(-1,-6) if that didn't work.
