An object with a massof 100 grams (0.100 kg) is dropped from a certain height and has a velocity of 60 meters/second. If the potential energy of this object is 179.99 joules, how high was the object when it was dropped?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The equation for the potential energy of an object is U = h*m*g, where U is the potential energy; h is the height; m is the mass of the object; and g is the gravitational strength (g = 9.81 m/s^2). to find the height rearrange the equation to find the height. => h = U/(m*g). Now insert your values into the equation and you will get the height that which the object was dropped at.
