A team won 9 of its first 12 games. At that rate, how many games will the team win if it plays 64 games in all?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you have to multiply 12 by to get 64?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5 1/2

Ok, think about it like this. Since Im assuming you can't use a calculator. Since 12 doesn't fit nicely into 64, how can we get something that does? Try simplifying 9/12.

Great, I got 3/4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, and now its much easier. You can set up an equality and solve for x. Or just eyeball it. \[\frac{ 3 }{ 4 } = \frac{ x }{ 64 }\]

48/64

Got it!
