Fan and Medal A circle has a diameter of 30 yards. What is its area? Use 3.14 for pi A. 188.4 square yard B. 353.25 square yards C. 376.8 square yards D. 706.5 square yards

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know how to find the radius?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it dosnt say the radius

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know, that's the point. I asked if you know how to find it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope not really

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The radius is always half of the diameter. So what's half of the diameter?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

15 yards

@whalexnuker

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Great :) Now pi is 3.14, R=Radius and "^2" means squared. okay? The formula for area of a square is: A = pi * r^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok then what

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Plug it in......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wat?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know what plugging it in means? Take your information and plug it into the formula. pi = 3.14 r = 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know what im doing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just told you, twice. You have: A = pi * r^2 which translates to: area equals pi times R squared I told you what pi is and i told you what R is. Put it into your calculator and solve it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just give me the answer pls i need the answer to pass the class

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@whalexnuker

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, I'm not giving you the answer. You need to know how to do this. I've told you three times, it's not that hard. Figure out what 3.14*15^2 equals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

23.55

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@whalexnuker

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um... no. How did you get that? \[3.14\times15^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oooooooooooooh now i get it its 706.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@whalexnuker

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks i was looking at it the wrong way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep....
