Explain how vestigial structures provide clues about a species’ evolutionary past. Illustrate your argument with vestigial structures found in humans or other real species. HELP ASAP!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A vestigial structure is one that serves little or no purpose. A structure without use should not be present at all, so it leads us to believe that some time in the past the species did use the structure or some form of it, otherwise it would not remain present in the species? So the genes are present because they were once useful, but are no longer...lol

It isn't special evidence, but it could be used to support existing evidence.

Hm, an example...google says whales have a pelvic bone. Useless to them now.

Humans have little use for body hair, so that's not a vestigial structure to us, I'd like to believe, lol

thank you, I haven't even gotten to my semester 1 final (I'm so behind) so I don't even care if this is wrong lol I just need an answer. It seems right though
