Using complete sentences, write an indirect proof proving that if x = 30, then x + 5 ≠ 20. I'm not sure how to do this. Please help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its incorrect because 30+5=35 and that is not equal to 20, its greater

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@selenatorsmiler4life I was saying that too. So I'm kinda confused...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the "indirect proof" assume that it IS true, then derive a contradiction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is really not much to say, since the contradiction is obvious: \(30+5\neq 20\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just explain what we said using complete sentences

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@satellite73 so then how would I put it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@selenatorsmiler4life oh okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think I got it a bit better. It would be that it is similar because it is slightly equal to it. Some where around there.
