OpenStudy (vampirediaries):

Is it possible for the equivalence point of a titration to not be at pH 7? (Please explain your answer)

OpenStudy (vampirediaries):

I know the answer is yes but why and how? Like what would happen if you did a titration with a strong acid and a weak base, or a strong base and a weak acid?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Of course. Think about what you're titrating: \(\sf \color{red}{HA + OH^- \rightarrow} H_2O +A^-\) or something very similar to that. Your conjugate base is going to be water (pH = 7). But, what if your conjugate base isn't water. Such as maybe OH?, which has a higher pH than 7, obviously.
