Pentagon ABCDE is shown on the coordinate plane below. I just can't seem to get this one.

Pentagon ABCDE is shown on the coordinate plane below.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If pentagon ABCDE is rotated 180 around the origin to create pentagon A'B'C'D'E', what is the ordered pair of point A'? (2, -4) (-4, -2) (-2, -4) (4, 2) @rational

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I picked 4,2 but it was wrong, I picked it because I thought that would make it 180 degrees

OpenStudy (rational):

Take a look at diagram, wat are the coordinates of A ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2, 4

OpenStudy (rational):

yes, if u rotate it 180 degrees : (x, y) -> (-x, -y)

OpenStudy (rational):

so, (-2, 4) -> ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2, -4

OpenStudy (rational):

try again

OpenStudy (rational):

(-2, 4) -> (--2, -4)

OpenStudy (rational):

which equals (2, -4)

OpenStudy (rational):

u need to be careful and do it step by step okay ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mind Blows Up* Idk why I can't get this in my head =(

OpenStudy (rational):

takes time, also u need to VISUALLY see in graph how the point is rotating

OpenStudy (rational):

someday everything wil make sense dont wry lol ;P

Thanks :D
