Determine which relation is a function. A. {(–3, 3), (–2, 3), (–1, 1), (0, 4), (0, 1)} B. {(–3, 2), (–2, 3), (–1, 1), (0, 4), (0, 1)} C. {(–3, 2), (–2, 3), (–1, 2), (0, 4), (1, 1)} D. {(–3, 2), (–1, 3), (–1, 2), (0, 4), (1, 1)}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok a function is a group of values where there is only one y value for a single x Meaning that x can only be associated with one y value We know that a set of points in the form (x,y) where x is the first point and y is the second paired coordinate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So lets look at option A Since there is (0,4) and (0,1) There are 2 y values ~ 4 and 1 which are associated to one x-value which is 0 in this case So option A isnt a function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What nope?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u said it isnt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok now lets go to Option B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lets look through all the pairs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thinks its D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D. {(–3, 2), (–1, 3), (–1, 2), (0, 4), (1, 1)} (–1, 3), (–1, 2) - There is one x-value for 2 y-values So this aint an option

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B is also not option for the same reason A isnt an option

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer is C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that was my next option

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yuppp :)
