Solve for theta. Find all solutions. Please show work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cot (theta) = sqrt(3)/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that cot suppose to cos?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cos-1(sqrt(3)/3) 54.7 degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cot = 1/tan cot = cos x / sin x etc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, its supp to be cot

I posted the same question on yahoo: sin(theta)=1/2 I know sin of 1/2 is pi/6 To find the other one you need to find the opposites that are both the same, you need to find positive opposites, quadrant 1 and 2 opposites are both positive. 180-30=150 and 150/30=5 so 5pi/6 pi/6+2pi (n), 5pi/6+2pi (n) Using that logic, I know how to find sin and cos but it wont work with tan,cot,csc and sec. So my question is, how would I find: csc(theta)=-1/1 cot(theta)=(sqrt)3)/3 sec(theta)=-(sqrt)2) tan(theta)=undefined Is were im stuck on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i haven't learned csc and sec yet. im sorry

Evaluate sqrt(3)/3 =0.577 and look up cot @ values, finding @ that way to start. Well, I hit on it as @=30o lucky guess. where else would cot @ = x/y = 0.577?
