OpenStudy (firejay5):

It is best to get all of your sources from a single place to save time. True or False The thesis of a research report is the answer to the main research question. True or False

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the first one is false the second one, i'm not sure what the answer is, sorry

OpenStudy (firejay5):

@Compassionate

OpenStudy (firejay5):

@beccaboo333 @eliassaab

OpenStudy (firejay5):

@e.mccormick

OpenStudy (31356):

The first one is FALSE obviously

OpenStudy (firejay5):

I understood that, but I think the second one is true

OpenStudy (31356):

Why do you think it's true, tell yourself why, and then WOW you found the answer! If not, then it's wrong

OpenStudy (firejay5):

I think it's true, because if you write a thesis as a question your research report should answer that thesis in your report or paper

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

A thesis introduces the main concepts of the paper. It should be tuned to introduce the concepts of the paper and stay focused on that. It does not answer everything because if it did, there would be no use to the rest of the paper. However, it does strongly present the point of view that is to be presented.

OpenStudy (firejay5):

so it's false

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

I think so. Here are a couple college references to them: www.esc.edu/online-writing-center/resources/research/research-paper-steps/developing-thesis/ https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/545/01/

OpenStudy (firejay5):

thank you dude if you are a dude

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Hmmmm.... Wait... on that second one. "As you can see, a research thesis is your proposed answer to your research question, which you finalize only after completing the research. (It's o.k. to modify and revise the working thesis as you research more about the topic or issue.)" I may be wrong there!

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Or first one... The ESC.edu one. It was second tab on my browser, first one I linked. LOL.

OpenStudy (firejay5):

so did it stump you

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, I don't do muuch with research yet. But looking up some other examples to clarify. http://www.ldeo.columbia.edu/~martins/sen_sem/thesis_org.html This is the larger research papers where the Thesis is detailed and includes an abstract. "A good abstract explains in one line why the paper is important. It then goes on to give a summary of your major results, preferably couched in numbers with error limits. The final sentences explain the major implications of your work. A good abstract is concise, readable, and quantitative."

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

The part that has always made it confusing to me is that a thesis is a type of paper as well as a part of a paper.... =/ So researching the term can get results on both.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Ah ha! Bow this one makes it very clear: http://www.irsc.edu/students/academicsupportcenter/researchpaper/researchpaper.aspx?id=4294967430 #2 And it says it is for ""Creating A Thesis For A Research Paper" so no question there!

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Bow=Now... hehe

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

So it is true.

OpenStudy (firejay5):

it's true
