Yes it is definitely B. Pedro Cabral accidentally sailed to far when he was trying to find the wind current Vasco Da Gama had established to go to India but instead sailed down to South America. He sow mountians and thought it odd when he saw it was part of the land, he made a giant cross and calmed it for Portugal. He staked it to the shore of the land now none as Brazil. This was the only part of the Americas on the east of the Line of Demarcation so it was free for them to clam it.
