Mya bought 4 slices of pie, one slice for each of her three friends and one slice of pie for her. The apple pie was $1 a slice, Pumpkin pie was $1.5 a slice, coconut pie was $1.80 a slice, and the mixed berry pie was $2 a slice. Two of the slices were the same, and she spent $6. How many of each type of pie did she buy? @Yuba @Luigi0210 @kirbykirby @Katt♥ @bibby @nincompoop @portlandschild @thomaster @TuringTest @Preetha @BellaNina865 @BTaylor @mathmale

OpenStudy (btaylor):

Let's start by seeing which type she did NOT buy. Since she spent exactly $6, she could buy apple (even dollar amount), 2 pumpkin pies (would make an even dollar amount), and mixed berry (even dollar amount). She could not buy coconut, since she would have to purchase 5 to make an even dollar amount.

OpenStudy (btaylor):

So that limits us to apple, pumpkin, and mixed berry. We know that the 2 must be pumpkin, to make an even dollar amount. That leaves us with $3 left, enough for 1 apple and 1 mixed berry. So: 1 apple 2 pumpkin 1 mixed berry
